The most common problems with lever coffee machines

WHAT TO DO IF SOMETHING ON THE COFFEE MACHINE IS NOT WORKING

Your baristas should understand their electronic friend. At least a little. After all, they're professionals. So they should be able to guess what 's going onwith the machine when the coffee isn't working, instead of panicking and calling a service technician every time something is wrong with the machine.

Yet the most common problems with a coffee machine come from lack of maintenance. Before you cluelessly call a coffee machine repairman, try to seeif something is clogged somewhere. Sediment in various parts of your coffee maker is the main problem that causes your coffee maker to malfunction.

HEY, THERE'S A PUDDLE UNDER THE COFFEE MAKER OR WHEN THE COFFEE MAKER LEAKS

You've found water under the coffee machine. You automatically reach for a cloth and wipe the area under the coffee machine. Soon there's a puddle again. Why? The coffee machine drain water is leaking because it can't flow smoothly into the drain pipe. Something's blocking it. That's why it's finding paths, like in the thread, and it's running out from there, onto your bar.

Make way for it bycleaning the drip tray of the coffee machine, the sediment tray hidden underneath, and don't forget the drain hose. There are obstructions everywhere that force water to flow and seep under the coffee maker. Most often, that obstruction is the lye that settles and collects in these drains.

THE MILK FROTHER NOZZLE IS NOT WORKING

You want to make a cappuccino. You pour milk into the pot, put the nozzle in, turn it on and... nothing. With the little steam that barely escapes from your nozzle, you'd be whipping milk until at least evening. How is that possible when it worked last time? You might as well ask that question of your colleague who had a previous shift at the coffee machine. As the nozzle is inserted into the milk, it happens thatmilk can settle inside the nozzle and prevent the steam from flowing out. Even worse is the residue from the chocolate that you also heat on the nozzle.

Failure to clean the nozzle thoroughly makes it uncomfortable to use again and again, and most importantly: what would hygiene say! Intentionally. Make a latte or a cappuccino. Then unscrew the nozzle and see what's inside. The holes at the end of the nozzle are plugged with chocolate and there's milk left over from last week. Now get your latte ready. Enjoy. We assume you don't want to drink it anymore.

Don't offer your guests something you wouldn't want yourself. Don't spoil your coffee with an uncleaned coffee machine, and don't gamble with the health of your customers by risking contamination with bacteria from old milk deposits. Always wipe and blow out the nozzle when you use it. Have a special cloth that is only for the nozzle. Clean the coffee machine, including the nozzle, regularly after each day . Don't forget it and use special products designed to clean it .

WHEN THE COFFEE MACHINE IS LEAKING WATER

Do you have a problem with the water flow from the shower head of your coffee machine? What could have happened? That's right. Again, it could be some kind of sediment. Also, clean water that is brought in from the water line can cause clogs in certain parts of your coffee maker. It's even one of the most fundamental problems associated with the operation of these machines. Remember the astonished expression of the lady in the Calgon commercial when the mustachioed repairman showed her how limescale had ruined her washing machine. The threat of limescale does not escape coffee machines. Especially when it's fed "hard water".

Water filtrationis a prerequisite for coffee machines to function properly. Nowadays, waterfiltering and refining equipment is automatically purchased together with the coffee machine and is thus already installed when a new coffee shop is built. Despite this, it can happen that limescale has settled in your coffee machine. Decalcify it. Use descaling agents and keep your coffee machine in good condition. If the limescale gets out of control, it could cost you up to 10,000 CZK to repair your coffee machine.

YOU CLEAN THE MACHINE REGULARLY, BUT THE WATER STILL DOESN'T FLOW.

The well-known saying "everything in moderation" is also true when it comes to cleaning your coffee machine. Every evening, you wash the machine thoroughly using special cleaning agents. There are also caseswhen excessive use of Cafizy or other chemicals designed for cleaning coffee machines does not wash the head of the coffee machine well. As a result, this chemical then prevents water from flowing into the head of the coffee maker, which we don't want, and it also gets into the coffee in the cup, which we don't want at all. Our advice is therefore: 'clean your coffee machine well and then rinse and rinse'.

LISTEN TO YOUR COFFEE MACHINE

Your coffee machine communicates with you. Don't believe it? Yes, you do. It's telling you what temperature it's set at and what pressure it's using for brewing. If you're having trouble making espresso, listen to what the machine is telling you. Watch to see if theright pressure is being used, if the coffee needs to be brewed at a lower temperature. See if you are overfilling the lever and then the machine struggles to push the water through that amount of coffee. Do you have the right amount of water set for brewing? You can discuss all this with your coffee machine.
