Earning a living doing what you enjoy and are interested in is the most ideal scenario for life. As you read our course information, you will be a coffee lover and cafe business enthusiast who aspires to be a professional barista. We will make such a coffee pro out of you.

Sign up for our Barista retraining course. You will get the necessary education in the field, learn a lot of information about coffee, its preparation and working in a coffee shop. You'll hone your sense of coffee flavour recognition. You will learn skills in preparing coffee on a lever coffee machine and alternative methods.

Accredited Barista retraining course

The course is designed as an intensive week-long course including both theoretical and practical components. You will meet the lecturers daily from Monday to Friday, in thematic blocks of 8 hours/day. The sophisticated curriculum of the course is aimed at complete preparation for the work of a barista.

It is therefore accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic as a full-fledged retraining course. Upon successful completion of the course, you will also receive a certificate of retraining, which will be your ticket to the professional coffee world and a necessary document to open your own café.

Barista course curriculum

The course curriculum is segmented into the following learning blocks:

Principles, conditions and processes of working in a café and OSH
Basic coffee knowledge with a focus on coffee selection
Coffee extraction in the coffee machine and the espresso process
Care of barista equipment and operational hygiene
Coffee shop service and customer service
Milk drinks and Latte Art
Coffee tasting and cupping evaluation
Alternative coffee preparation methods
Coffee roasting theory with practical demonstration
Coffee technology: coffee machine and grinder in the café

The course ends with a knowledge test and a practical test on espresso and cappuccino preparation. The sequence of the training blocks is individual by appointment. Experienced baristas and lecturers will guide you through the entire course and will be happy to share their own experience, provide additional information and answer all your coffee questions.

Free coffee course? How to get it

100% of the cost of the course will be reimbursed by the Job Centre. This applies to anyone registered as a jobseeker with the Job Centre. If you are not, you need to register as such to qualify for the course funding. It's not complicated, you just need to fill in and submit the relevant documents to the Job Centre.

Barista course discount for employees of your café

Within the framework of the POVEZ II project, you have the opportunity to train your employees with financial support from the Labour Office.

How to apply for a retraining course

The price of the 40-hour course with a retraining certificate for baristas is 29 000,- including VAT. After purchasing the course on the e-shop and paying the amount or once the UB approves your application for the retraining course , book one of the currently announced dates.

Courses are held with a minimum of 3 people. The maximum capacity is 6 people to ensure there is enough space for a quality education for each of the course participants. If you sign up as a group, for example as part of the whole café "crew", then the price is more favourable.
