Coffee from the Cajamarca region
Cosecha de Mujer coffee comes from the Cajamarca region of Peru , specifically the San Ignacio region. It is grown by a group of women from the Prosperidad de Chirinos cooperative at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,900 m above sea level
Cultivated varieties include Bourbon, Catimor, Catuai, Caturra, Marsellesa, Mundo Novo, Pache and Typica, with the picking carried out by hand from March to September . The coffee is processed using the "fully washed" method, which includes fermentation and drying in the sun.
The Cosecha de Mujer initiative aims to promote equality between men and women in agriculture. Women receive training in leadership, coffee quality improvement and small business management. The program also includes support for food self-sufficiency and income diversification, which helps women strengthen their role on farms and in society.
