The Cooxupé cooperative was founded in 1932 and is one of the oldest cooperatives in Brazil. Since 1957, the cooperative has invested in its own coffee processing, the education of its members, and help with sales on international markets.
With more than 60 years of tradition , Cooxupé is an example for all cooperatives in Brazil. Cooxupé has 12,000 members from Sul de Minas, the Cerrado in the Minas Gerais region and also growers in the Rio Pardo Valley in São Paulo. The vast majority are family - small growers whose main livelihood is growing coffee.
Cooxupé takes social responsibility towards its members very seriously. In the rural regions of their operation, they built health and educational units for the surrounding residents.
