Our organically created citronella essential oil is steam distilled from tall, greenleaves of Cymbopogon winterianus, also known as Citronella Grass, which grows wild in Indonesia.

Citronella oil has a medium-strength sweet, citrus, lemony and woody aroma that presents a medium fragrance. It blends particularly well with essential oils in the citrus, floral, wood, grass and herb families.

There are two types of Citronella essential oil that we are familiar with - Citronella essential oil extracted from grassCitronella Java, which is particularly sought after by natural perfumers due to its complex aromatic profiles. It has a fresh, strong lemon-like scent and is higher in citronellal and citronellol than the Ceylon or Nardus variety.

This means that the antiseptic and antimicrobial effects will be stronger, and the deodorizing effects will therefore be more effective.
