About Hacienda Sonora

Hacienda Sonora is located at the foot of the Poas volcano and the coffee from this farm is not only delicious, but also organic. The entire farm uses 100% renewable energy produced by a hydroelectric plant that converts fast flowing rivers into electricity.

After selective hand-harvesting, the ripe cherries are dried in raised beds or on the farm's terrace, where they are turned frequently and regularly to promote even drying. Caturra is a natural mutation of the Bourbon variety and is known for its delicate and complex flavour, which is often floral and fruity.

Hacienda Sonora is participating in the NAMA Café de Costa Rica project, which is the first measure taken by the Costa Rican government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With a proactive approach, it is investing in key technologies and methods to reduce carbon emissions.

What will this coffee taste like?

Costa Rica is one of the most developed coffee countries in Central America. There are 8 coffee regions in the country. The flavour of Costa Rican coffee varies according to the growing area, but honey, chocolate and vanilla notes are common and this coffee will leave you completely enchanted.

In a cup of this natural Costa Rican coffee, the sweet taste of brown sugar and the distinct aroma of plums stand out. These are complemented by the unique taste of milk chocolate, whose sweetness perfectly balances the natural acidity of this coffee.

Recommended for filter coffee. A fine roasting profile has been created just for this method of coffee preparation. In addition to using it for classic drip coffee from a dripper or drip coffee machine, you can also enjoy coffee from a French Press, AeroPress or Chemex.
