Centella asiatica, also sometimes referred to as "Brahmi", is a small creeping herb that is native to Asia but is now cultivated in other tropical and temperate swampy parts of Africa and the USA. Centella asiatica is best known by its common name: "Gotu Kola". It is an aquatic plant and grows along streams in rice paddies and other swampy environments.

Centella Asiatica or Gotu Kola is a famous herb that has been traditionally used to improve mental state and support proper functioning of the nervous system.

The Centella Asiatica plant has distinctive round leaves with a strong resemblance to the cerebellum. This is an interesting fact because it fits with the "doctrine of signatures" which states that herbs treat the part of the body they resemble.
